NEW HAVEN, Conn. – They played 110 minutes without a score in front of a big and loud crowd on a perfect night at Reese Stadium.
Yale goalie
Elian Haddock made four saves and prevented plenty of other chances in a 0-0 double overtime draw with Harvard in the Ivy League opener for both schools.
Yale, the defending league champions, had eight corner kicks in the first half and came closest to finding the net on the last one.
Sigfus Arnason's left foot put the ball near the far post and teammate
Eric Lagos got his head on the feed before directing it a foot wide of the goal. The Bulldogs did not get another corner opportunity, while the visitors finished with 10 chances.
The Crimson had a 16-13 edge in shots, and there were lots sequences where a ball could have found the net.
Early in the second half, Arnason's rocket shot bounced off the post, which was the home team's best opportunity. On the other end, a Harvard shot from inside the 18-yard box hit the cross bar with 13 minutes left in regulation.
Yale, which had not had a scoreless draw since Nov. 4, 2017, at home against Brown, has a quick turnaround with a road game against Hartford on Tuesday night at 7.
