NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Women's Soccer Team looks for some mid-week momentum with a non-league game at Boston University Tuesday night at 7 before the Bulldogs host Dartmouth on Saturday at 4 back in league play.
The first meeting between Yale and BU in 10 years airs live on ESPN+. The last meeting was also at Nickerson Field, a 3-1 win by the Terriers who outshot Yale 16-4. The Bulldogs got a goal from Emma Mullo and a combined five saves from Adel Jackson-Gibson and Elise Wilcox.
Yale beat Dartmouth 3-1 at Reese in the last meeting in 2019.
Sarah Jordan and
Lydia Shaw had two of the three tallies for the home team.
BULLDOGS
Yale is coming off losses to nationally ranked league opponents Princeton and Harvard. The Elis kept both highly rated offenses off the scoreboard for the first 50 minutes but could not sustain that and did not get support at the other end of the field.
A pair of first-year goalkeepers have been baptized under fire this fall, but they have also come up with some strong performances that could be great signs for the future. Last Saturday,
Maya Bellomo made a season-high 13 saves in the 2-0 loss to No. 10 Harvard at New Haven, while
Annie Welch, who had the shutout in the win against St. John's a few weeks ago, had six stops at No. 24 Princeton.
The Elis (1-9, 0-2 Ivy) have goals from seven different players including a pair from first-year
Ellie Rappole, who leads the team with five points.
TERRIERS
BU (6-5-1, 3-1-0 Patriot), has won two straight and is coming off a 1-0 decision at Lehigh on Oct. 1. The Terriers are led offensively by Jenna Oldham, who has four goals and 13 points. A pair of keepers have split time in the BU net and combined for a 1.47 goals against and a .723 save percentage.
BIG GREEN
Dartmouth (4-4-1, 0-2-0), which has lost four straight after a great start to the season, is coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Princeton. The Big Green's last victory was Sept. 9 against Sacred Heart, a 2-1 OT contest. Allie Winstanley leads the team with three goals and 10 points, while Charlotte Cyr (1.70 GAA) has eight of the nine starts in goal.
