Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Marisa Shorrock made three saves in her first start and
Alanna Butcher hit the net, but the Yale Women's Soccer Team fell to Dartmouth 2-1 at Reese Stadium.
Hannah Curtin scored both Big Green goals, including the winning header with just over two minutes left, on a day that the home team outshot the visitors 18-10.
The visitors got on the board first, but the Elis answered 17 seconds later with Butcher's second goal of the year with 37:12 left in the first half. A pair of first-years connected to even the score with
Tina Teik sending a cross to Butcher, who was 10 feet from the goal line.
The Elis have been playing well defensively most of this season, and today was no different. The home team prevented the Big Green from taking a shot in the second half until there was a little over seven minutes left.
A year ago, Shorrock was a first year at Bowdoin College, which had its 2021 canceled by the pandemic. The Westport native and former Staples standout transferred to Yale last spring, but she was not expecting to play for the Bulldogs. The Elis got hit with injuries this fall and the coaches asked the sophomore if she would join the team. Today, she made her first collegiate appearance.
The Bulldogs are next in action a week from today at home against Cornell.
