NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore
Nathan Reid, playing his first collegiate hockey game, turned aside 34 shots as the Yale men's team fell to No. 6 Quinnipiac 3-0 at Ingalls Rink in the home opener.
Reid made 11 saves in the first, 13 in the second and 10 in the final frame while the visitors had a 37-12 advantage in shots on target.
"Nathan did a really good job, and the goaltending was solid all night long," said
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "Our overall defensive game was really good."
The Bulldogs held the Bobcats scoreless on four power plays, while Reid made 11 stops on those advantages.
"I thought our guys competed hard and we spent a fair amount of time in our zone, but I thought we did a good job of limiting their grade A chances. I'd like to see us have a little more poise with the puck, but I think we are still getting accustomed to the pace of play with a lot of young guys," said Allain.
The Bulldogs look for their first win of the year when Princeton comes to the Whale on Saturday night at 7.
