NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Niklas Allain scored both goals, the first two of his collegiate career, but the Yale Men's Hockey Team fell to Princeton 6-2 before 1,347 at Ingalls Rink tonight.
Allain, a sophomore playing his first season, tallied in the second and third periods as the Bulldogs were trying to catch up to the Tigers, winners of both games this weekend.
The son of the Yale head coach broke through for the team's first goal of the season when he took a pass from sophomore
Reilly Connors and fired on Princeton goalie Jeremie Forget, who made the stop but could not control the rebound. Allain grabbed the puck and flicked it over Forget's shoulder.
In the third period, senior
Justin Pearson skated over the blueline and dropped a pass for Allain, who one-timed it with 5:18 left in third period.
Nathan Reid, a sophomore making his second straight start, had 19 saves in the Yale net.
"The score wasn't indicative of the game, and we did some really good things out there," said
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "We didn't do enough good things for 60 minutes, and we did too many things that shot ourselves in the foot."
