NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Four former Yale Women's Soccer standouts are in training camps competing for spots on National Women's Soccer League teams.
 

Meredith Speck '15 (NC Courage), Michelle Alozie '19 (Houston Dash), Aerial Chavarin '20 (Chicago Redstars) and Noelle Higginson '20 (Racing Louisville) all reported to camps on Feb. 1 and will likely find out if they have made a roster after the April 9 Challenge Cup.
 
Speck started all four games of the 2020 NWSL Fall Series and played over 300 minutes. Alozie played for BIIK Kazygurt, the 13-time national champion of Kazakhstan in 2020 after a graduate transfer season at the University of Tennessee in 2019. Chavarin played for the Redstars in the last Fall Series, while Higginson has been accepted to law school but deferred to pursue her first pro soccer experience.

"We are excited for Meredith, Michelle, Aerial and Noelle to all be given opportunities in the NWSL. All four represent Yale Women's Soccer incredibly well, and we can't wait to continue to follow their careers," said Martinez. "The NWSL is arguably the best professional league in the world and to have so much Yale Women's Soccer representation speaks volumes of our program and the Ivy League. As these four continue to pave the road for future YWS alum to go pro, our goal will be to put our players in situations where their pro aspirations can be realized year after year."
 

Following the Challenge Cup, the NWSL's 10 teams will face off in a 24-game regular season beginning May 15. Details on the Challenge Cup format and the regular season schedule have not been announced. The league season, which will not break for the 2021 Olympic Games, concludes on Oct. 30.
