COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach, has been named to the U.S. National Team staff for the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship at Frisco, Texas, from April 26 to May 6.
The former Yale goalie, National Hockey League assistant and USA Hockey Hall of Famer has notched seven Ivy League Championships, six NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2013 national championship as head coach of the Elis. Allain has 250 wins in 14 seasons with the Bulldogs.
This is his 14th USA Hockey assignment, including three Olympics and eight world championships. He has been a head coach on five of the teams. Allain, the first Bulldog to coach in the NHL, was also the first Yale graduate to serve as an Olympic hockey coach. He was an assistant coach for the U.S. Team at the 1992 (Albertville), 2006 (Torino) and 2018 (PyeongChang) Olympic Games, working with three of his Yale players in the last one.
"I am truly blessed to have an opportunity to work with this staff and talented group of players building a team that will represent our country with pride and compete intensely for a medal. I am grateful to Yale University and USA Hockey for giving me this chance to head Westward on the Frisco Trail as we prospect for world championship gold," said Allain.
Team USA opens with Russia on April 26 at Comerica Center in Frisco.
