NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The schedule doesn't get easier in week No. 3 for a young Yale Women's Soccer Team looking for its first victory of 2021. The Bulldogs travel to Albany Thursday for a 7 p.m. game before heading to No. 12 Hofstra on Sunday at noon.
YALE
Yale, coming off home losses to undefeated Oregon State and Colgate last weekend, was battling injuries at every position by the time it opened the season with an overtime game against Buffalo. Newcomer
Annie Welch has played every minute in goal, while the Elis have a pair of tallies from first-year
Ellie Rappole and a goal from junior
Ellery Winkler.
ALBANY
The Great Danes, coming off a 2-0 loss to Connecticut on Sept. 5, is 0-3-1 including a 2-2 tie at Cornell late in August. Albany, which has had two games cancelled, has goals from three different players this fall. The goalkeeping has been handled by Sophie Chen, who has 22 saves in four contests.
HOFSTRA
The Pride have a two-game win streak and are 5-1 heading into their Friday contest with Bucknell. The wins came against Brown, Columbia, Penn, Stony Brook and Albany, while the lone defeat was a 2-1 decision at No. 7 Penn State. Miri Taylor leads the team with five goals and 3 assists for an offense that helps prevent shots at the other end of the field. Skylar Kuzmich, who has all the wins in goal, has made nine saves and four of those came against Penn State.
