NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Lindsay Chia (Windsor, Ont.) of the Yale gymnastics team has been named Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast of the Week. The conference announced the award on Wednesday.
 
In the Bulldogs' season opener against Brown, LIU and West Chester Sunday at Lee Amphitheater, Chia had a strong all-around performance (39.075), with exceptional routines on beam (9.875, first) and floor (9.775, tied for third). She also scored a 9.75 (tied for fourth) on vault. 
 
This is the first season for the Gymnastics East Conference, which features eight of the top gymnastics programs on the East Coast: Bridgeport, Brown, Cornell, Penn, Southern Connecticut, West Chester, William & Mary and Yale.
 
Yale competes at Penn State Friday at 6:00 p.m.
