NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 7 Yale Women's Hockey Team blew open a close game with a pair of third-period tallies on the way to a 3-0 win over RPI at Ingalls Rink.
The win gave the Bulldogs, who are No. 5 in the Pairwise and 15-4-1 overall, a seventh win in eight games and a tie for second place (9-3-1) in the ECAC Hockey standings with Clarkson.
Elle Hartje had a goal and a primary assist and
Claire Dalton had two helpers as three different skaters found the net. The Elis outshot the Engineers 35-17 and controlled play for most of the contest.
Grace Lee got things started for the home team when she took a
Tess Dettling feed in the slot and fired top shelf with 21.4 seconds left in the opening frame.
Rebecca Vanstone one-timed a Hartje crossing feed midway through the third and then
Emma Seitz set up Hartje for the third tally, another one-timer from close range.
Dalton's night moved her into third place on the Yale career assist list with 59, just nine shy of the top spot.
Pia Dukaric, the first-year backup netminder who was solid under pressure, earned the shutout by stopping all 17 shots and three power plays for her fifth collegiate victory.
