How It Happened
  • After a 26-shot first period and plenty of opportunities for Yale, the game was still scoreless after 20 minutes of play.
  • The opportunities kept knocking for the Bulldogs and they finally connected on the powerplay in the second period. Just over seven minutes in, Cole Donhauser ripped a backhanded shot towards goal that was scooped up and put away by Niklas Allain for the Bulldogs' first goal of the season.
  • Yale extended its lead to two goals when Quinton Ong corralled the puck in the corner and slid a beautiful pass in the slot to Briggs Gammill, who was breaking in front of the net, and put it away.

Hear from Coach Allain
"I think it was a really good team win and the guys were rewarded for the work they put in this fall," said Keith Allain, Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Men's Hockey. "You have to give special teams credit for working hard on both sides of the puck. The penalty kill was outstanding and the powerplay got us two goals; put that together with our team defense and goaltending and you have a pretty good chance to win."

Notes
  • Nathan Reid picked up his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
  • This was Niklas Allain's first career game-winning goal.
  • David Chen picked up his first collegiate point on Gammill's goal.
