NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Five days after capturing its third Ivy League title in four seasons, the Yale volleyball program earned five All-Ivy selections. In addition, head coach
Erin Appleman was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year.

Carly Diehl and outside hitter
Audrey Leak were named to the first team, while libero
Maile Somera and outside hitter
Mila Yarich were selected to the second team. Middle hitter
Gigi Barr earned honorable mention recognition.
Diehl, a sophomore from San Diego, Calif., finished second in the conference in assists (10.98) and ranked 10th in service aces (0.32). In addition, Diehl averaged 1.20 kills per set and 2.22 digs per set in conference play.
Leak, a junior from Saddle River, N.J., ranked third with a 3.50 kills per set average and led the team with 398 attacks while hitting .266 in league matches. In addition, Leak also finished second on the team in total blocks (30) in conference matches.
Somera, a junior from Barrington, R.I., finished third in the Ivy League in both digs per set (4.32) and service aces per set (0.48) in conference matches. Somera also added 49 assists in league play.
Yarich, a sophomore from Tampa, Fla., ranked fourth in the conference in service aces per set (0.42). In addition, Yarich also ranked in the top 10 in both digs per set (3.20, 8th) and kills per set (2.80, 9th), and also added 28 total blocks against Ivy League opponents. She also was Yale's Academic All-Ivy selection.
Barr, a sophomore from Elmhurst, Ill., ranked ninth in the conference in hitting percentage (.333) in league play. Barr also averaged 2.66 kills per set and added 27 total blocks in Ivy League matches.
Appleman earned Ivy League Coach of the Year honors for the second time since the award was initiated in 2014. She
is one of the most successful coaches in Ivy League history in any sport. She has guided the Bulldogs to an unprecedented 11 Ivy titles, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, five 20+ win seasons and was the first Ivy coach to lead a team to an NCAA Tournament victory.
Appleman, the winningest coach in Yale volleyball history, has guided the Bulldogs to a first or second-place finish in 17 of the last 18 seasons.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season 21-2 overall and 13-1 in league play to earn the No. 1 seed to host this weekend's Ivy League tournament. Yale faces Dartmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner will face the winner of the Princeton/Brown match on Saturday at 6 p.m. for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
