Bulldogs Earn 1-1 Draw with No. 15 Cornell in Home Finale

Carroll scores Yale’s goal in first half

Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Paolo Carroll has scored quite a few goals in his career at Reese Stadium. So, it was fitting that he would get one in his final game in his home stadium. Carroll's 21st career goal helped the Yale men's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with Cornell on an unseasonably mild late afternoon at Reese.

Carroll's goal came off a corner kick. Max Rogers sent a cross that Sam Harshe and Quanah Brayboy directed to Carroll, who knocked it home from right in front at 6:31.

Carroll will finish his career in the top-10 all-time at Yale in goals.

Cornell's goal came on a penalty kick at 14:52.

Both teams had quality scoring opportunities the rest of the way, but both goalkeepers were strong. Elian Haddock made two saves for the Bulldogs, while Ryan Friedberg stopped four shots for the Big Red.

Cornell, which is No. 9 in the NCAA RPI rankings, had won its previous three games. It was the first tie of the season for the Big Red, who entered the weekend tied for first place in the Ivy League.

The Bulldogs (6-4-5) played their fifth tie of the season.

Yale closes out the season at Brown next Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. in Providence.
