NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Kendal Toy (Coppell, Texas) of the Yale gymnastics team has been named Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast of the Week. The conference announced the award on Wednesday.
In the Barbara and Don Tonry Invitational Sunday at Lee Amphitheater, Toy helped the Bulldogs to a first-place finish as a team (193.625). She tied for first on bars with a 9.850, part of the second-best bars total (49.050) in school history. Toy also tied for first on beam (9.825) and floor (9.775). Her bars and beam scores were personal bests.
This is the first season for the Gymnastics East Conference, which features eight of the top gymnastics programs on the East Coast: Bridgeport, Brown, Cornell, Penn, Southern Connecticut, West Chester, William & Mary and Yale.
Yale competes at Temple Friday at 7:00 p.m.
