Donhauser OT Goal Gives Yale 3-2 Win over No 17 Clarkson

Pearson shines in net to pick up his second victory

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Cole Donhauser's most significant goal of his career beat No. 17 Clarkson tonight at Cheel Arena.

The junior left wing from Buffalo, N.Y., hit the net with 1:03 left in overtime to give the Yale Men's Ice Hockey Team a 3-2 win over the Knights.

Donhauser, who has four goals this season and six in his career, saved the best for the biggest night. He and the Elis were not giving up hope of finishing eighth with one game left in the regular season. However, things did not work out in other games and Saturday's 7 p.m. game at St. Lawrence can't help them earn home ice for the first round of the conference tournament.

The Bulldogs also got goals from Justin Pearson and Quinton Ong while never trailing in this contest. Pearson scored in the first period when he skated into the left circle and sent the puck inside the far post for his third of the year.

Ong, who got his first career goal tonight, hit the net in the third period to give Yale its second lead at 2-1. The junior wing fired a wrister from the right dot that looked like it could be the game-winner. However, the home team rallied and scored on a 6-on-4 with 32 seconds left in regulation.

First-year goalie Luke Pearson had his best night as a collegian by stopping 35 of 37 shots to register the win against a ranked team that beat the Elis at New Haven a few weeks ago. He stopped three of four advantages while facing 66 total shots attempted.

"It's a great road win against a quality opponent," said Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "Our men played hard and managed the game. We are gaining valuable experience that we can use moving forward."
