TROY, N.Y. – The No. 9 Yale Women's Hockey Team tied the program record for wins in a season after a 3-0 decision at RPI tonight.
The Bulldogs (17-5-1, 11-4-1 ECAC) also helped register a milestone for
Mark Bolding, Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach. The second-season Bulldog coach won his 300
th collegiate game.
Sophomore
Elle Hartje had a goal and an assist and the Elis had empty-net tallies from seniors
Tess Dettling and
Rebecca Foggia to help Yale remain in third place in the ECAC standings with 34.5 points.
Hartje, who leads the team with 12 goals and 37 points, gave the visitors a lead early in the second on a power play after taking a feed from junior
Claire Dalton, who moved into a tie for second place on the Yale career assist list with 61. Dalton's pass to Hartje in the slot gave the center an opportunity to spin and fire a wrister into the back of the net.
Pia Dukaric, a first-year goalie with eight wins, stopped all 18 shots on target to earn her fourth shutout. She had to make an enormous save on a breakaway with just under six minutes left that could have tied the game.
"Tonight we had a real solid performance from everyone up and down the lineup," said Bolding. "We had some great looks early in the game, then the power play goal by Hartje gave us the jump we needed. Terrific energy on our PK and timely saves by Dukaric sealed this road win."
Yale matched the win total from the 2019-20 season, Bolding's first behind the Bulldog bench.
The Elis, who moved up to eighth in the Pairwise tonight, skate at Union Saturday at 3 p.m. looking for a third straight win.
