Eight different Bulldogs drove in at least one run and
Mike Walsh allowed one run over six innings on Friday to lead Yale to an 11-2 victory at Fordham in the Bronx.
Carson Swank added a two-run homer in the second and
Jimmy Chatfield added a two-run single in the third to give Walsh all the support he needed to earn his first win of the season. Â The victory marked the third straight win for the Bulldogs. Â
Walsh struck out nine and allowed one hit while he scattered four walks. Â
Carter Kessinger pitched a scoreless seventh and
Mick Kelley tossed the final two innings. Â
Mason LaPlante went 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Â LaPlante made it 5-0 with a sac fly in the fourth.
The Bulldogs (5-4) added three more runs in the sixth and again in the seventh. Â In the sixth,
Ben Metzner had a two-run single and later scored on an error. Â
AJ Gaich and LaPlante had run-scoring singles in the seventh, and
Alec Atkinson drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday with a home game against Marist.Â
