Bolding Named ECAC Hockey Coach of Year

Bulldogs broke almost every team record this winter

ALBANY, N.Y. - Mark Bolding is the second coach in the history of the Yale Women's Ice Hockey Team to earn ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year.

Bolding, in his second season as Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach, engineered a program-best 24 wins and a second-place ECAC finish while helping his squad earn the school's first conference championship weekend on home ice.

Bolding, who led the 2019-20 Elis to a then-record 17 victories, turned it up a notch this season. His Bulldogs smashed program records with 16 ECAC wins, 116 goals, nine shutouts and many other unique accomplishments.

Yale, which finished just a point out of first place, is seventh in the latest Pairwise Rankings while listed seventh in both national polls. The Elis hosted their first post-season contest in 17 years last weekend, winning the quarterfinal series with St. Lawrence two games to one.

Bolding's squad ranks fifth nationally in scoring defense (1.53) and sixth in offense (3.62) with a mix of individuals among Division I's best. He coached the ECAC Defenseman of the Year, two All-ECAC First Team picks, an ECAC All-Rookie Team selection and two others who were finalists for major conference awards this winter.
