SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Yale men's tennis team ended its spring break trip to Northern California by falling to Santa Clara 4-1.
The Bulldogs' point came from a victory by
Walker Oberg at No. 6 singles. Oberg cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win.
At No. 1 singles,
Michael Sun was one game away from victory when his match was stopped. Sun won the first set over Guillaume Dalmasso 6-4 and was up 5-4 in the second set.
The Bulldogs are now off until their Ivy League opener at Brown on Apr. 3.
"We've played a lot of tennis in the last four days, and I'm proud of our efforts and attitude," said Yale head coach
Chris Drake. "Of course, it's difficult to lose three matches but overall, we are learning important lessons that will help this young team grow both this season and beyond. We are making progress and getting better. We have a few days now to rest and recover before getting back to work next week in preparation for Ivy play."
