NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Another highly successful season for the Yale men's basketball program has earned James Jones, the Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of the Bulldogs, more postseason honors. Jones is a finalist for both the Ben Jobe Award, which is presented annually to the top Division I minority coach, and the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, which honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off the floor as well. Both awards are presented by College Insider.

Jones was the recipient of the 2019 Jobe Award and has been a finalist for the Prosser Award.

This winter, Jones guided Yale to the Ivy League Tournament title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs, who finished with a 19-11 overall record, are in the midst of the most successful era in the history of the program. Under Jones' direction over the last seven seasons, Yale has posted a 74-24 (.755) Ivy record, won four league championships, captured two Ivy League Tournament titles and earned four NCAA Tournament berths, including notching the first NCAA victory in school history – over Baylor in 2016.

In addition, Yale has now finished fourth or better in the Ivy League a remarkable 21 straight seasons. The Bulldogs have finished third or better in each of the last eight seasons, have posted at least 10 wins in five of the last seven seasons and have had a winning Ivy mark in 10 straight seasons.
