Dalton, Hartje and Seitz Competing for Spots on National Teams; Bruch Coaching US U-22 Goalies

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's ice hockey program is well-represented on the international stage this month as USA Hockey and Hockey Canada host events to help select their rosters for the upcoming IIHF Women's World Championship. Rising junior forward Elle Hartje (Detroit, Mich.) and rising senior defenseman Emma Seitz (New York, N.Y.) have been invited to the USA Hockey Women's National Festival, where Yale volunteer coach Mackenzie Bruch is serving as the USA Under-22 Select Team goalie coach. Rising senior forward Claire Dalton (Toronto, Ont.) is at the Hockey Canada National Women's Program Selection Camp.

The USA Hockey Women's National Festival takes place Aug. 8-13 at the LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, N.Y.  Hockey Canada's National Women's Program Selection Camp takes place Aug. 3-14 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park.

All four Bulldogs helped Yale to a historic season that included the program's first Frozen Four appearance. The team broke multiple school records, including single-season wins (26) and goals scored (123).

Dalton, who has been elected Yale's captain for 2022-23, ranks third in school history with 97 career points in 96 games. She was a third team All-ECAC Hockey honoree and earned All-ECAC Hockey Tournament honors last winter while notching 13 goals and 43 points. Her 30 assists and 43 points both ranked in the top five on Yale's single-season lists.

Hartje broke the school record for assists in a season with 35. Her 51 points were the most for a Bulldog in 38 years and the second-most ever. She led ECAC Hockey in points per game with 1.42, while she was fifth and 10th nationally in assists and goals per game respectively. She was named first team All-ECAC Hockey and was a finalist for ECAC Hockey Forward of the Year. She was also an All-New England selection.

Seitz became the second All-American in school history this past season, earning second-team honors from the AHCA. The ECAC Hockey Defenseman of the Year and a first-team all-conference pick, she scored more goals (14) than any ECAC blueliner this year and any Yale defenseman in school history. An All-New England selection, she had 25 points.

Bruch began her stint as a volunteer goalie coach for Yale in October of 2021 and helped the Bulldogs set the school record for shutouts in a season (10). The team's top two goalies each had five blankings, tying each other for the school single-season record. Gianna Meloni '22 broke the school record for goals-against average (1.50).

The finals rosters for the 2022 U.S. Women's National Team, along with the U.S. Under-18 Select Team and Collegiate Select Team, will be named after the conclusion of the National Festival. Hockey Canada will name its National Team roster as well as its National Women's Development Team and National Women's Under-18 Team rosters.

The U.S. and Canadian National Teams will compete at the IIHF Women's World Championship in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark, Aug. 25–Sept. 4. The two countries' select teams will head to Calgary and each play a three-game series on Aug. 17, 18 and 20.
