Bulldogs Capture Yale Invitational and Extend Win Steak to Six

Yale defeated Fordham and Sacred Heart on Saturday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs defeated Fordham and Sacred Heart on Saturday, and extended their win streak to six overall while capturing the Yale Invitational.  

Mila Yarich was named tournament MVP and averaged 4.42 kills per set this weekend, including a career-high 23 kills in a 3-1 win over Fordham this afternoon.  Carly Diehl and Maile Somera were also named to the all-tournament team for the Bulldogs, who improved to 8-1 overall.

Yarich and Cara Shultz both had double-doubles in the win over the Rams.  Diehl had 54 assists and added eight digs in the match.  

In the win over Sacred Heart, Yarich and Audrey Leak both had a team-high nine kills, and Gigi Barr had seven.  The Bulldogs held an 11-1 edge in service aces led by Shultz who had five in the match.

Somera, who averaged 4.33 digs per set this weekend, had a team-high 17 in the win over the Pioneers.  Shultz had eight and Bella Chan added seven.  

A week after winning the Syracuse Tournament, the Bulldogs defended their home court with three victories in 24 hours.  Tonight marked the final non-conference match on the schedule for Yale.  The Ivy League season kicks off next Friday at Brown.
