Bulldogs Capture Top-Five Battle Against Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – In a battle of two top-five teams in the country, the No. 2 Yale women's hockey team took down No. 3/4 Quinnipiac, 4-2, at M&T Bank Arena. The Bulldogs' record improved to 19-1-1 overall and 12-1-1 in the ECAC, while the Bobcats fell to 23-4-0 overall and 13-2-0 in the conference.

How It Happened
  • Claire Dalton opened the scoring for Yale at the 11:42 mark of the first period. Carina DiAntonio played the puck at the goal line for Sylvia Bojarski to one-time over to Dalton for the forehand-to-backhanded finish.
  • Dalton and DiAntonio had their hands in the pot once again as Dalton's pass to DiAntonio started the play that led to the team's second goal. DiAntonio found a seam that saw the puck land at the stick of Emma Seitz, who launched it bottom left for the goal.
  • Yale took a three-goal lead with 43.4 seconds remaining in the first. Elle Hartje charged into the offensive zone, leaving a pass back for Jordan Ray, who found DiAntonio entering the offensive zone. DiAntonio launched a shot on goal that squeaked past Quinnipiac's Logan Angers.
  • After a scoreless second frame of action, Quinnipiac put pressure on the Bulldogs' defense in the third. The Bobcats managed to net two quick goals and cut Yale's lead to one.
  • With Quinnipiac's net empty and 6-on-5 action, the Bobcats were pulling out all the stops. The Bulldogs answered the call and came up with a massive block that allowed them to break out of the zone and seal the victory with an empty netter from DiAntonio.

Notes
  • Pia Dukaric made 15 saves for Yale in the massive win for the Bulldogs.
  • Carina DiAntonio picked up the first four-point game of her collegiate career.
  • This was DiAntonio's fourth game-winning goal of the season.
  • Claire Dalton kept her hot streak alive as she picked up her fifth point in three games.
  • Charlotte Welch extended her point streak to seven games with an assist on DiAntonio's goal.
