Bulldogs Play to a 1-1 Deadlock Against Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Yale men's hockey team played to a 1-1 tie with the University of Vermont at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs moved to 2-10-3 overall, while the Catamounts moved to 7-12-2.

How It Happened

  • The Catamounts scored first in the game, but the goal was called back for offsides.
  • Briggs Gammill would then break the deadlock at the 11:07 mark of the first period as Niklas Allain ripped a shot on net that Gammill scooped up and buried.
  • In the last minute of the first period, Vermont scored the equalizer.
  • The final two frames were scoreless, which forced an overtime period.
  • After a five minute overtime period, neither team found the back of the net and the game resulted in a draw.
  • The squads squared off in a shootout that the Bulldogs took home. Because it was a non-conference matchup, the points for the shootout did not count for or against either team record.

Notes
  • Luke Pearson made 31 stops in goal for Yale and stood on his head in the shootout.
  • Briggs Gammill recorded his fourth goal of the season.
  • David Chen picked up his team-leading fifth assist of the season.
