Bulldogs Extend Unbeaten Streak To Seven With 1-0 Victory At Boston College

NEWTON, Mass. – Junior TJ Presthus buried a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to give the Yale men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Boston College on Tuesday night at the Newton Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Bulldogs extended their unbeaten streak to seven games and hold an overall record of 6-3-2 (1-0-2 Ivy League). Boston College drops to 3-5-4 so far this season.

"This was a great team performance and result, and there was about a 25-30 minute spell that was some of our best of the year in the first half where we deserved our goal and also didn't allow any shots," Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs said. "We knew they would push hard in the second half and we needed to rotate a lot of players to keep fresh legs and manage the tough stretch of games we have coming. I'm really proud of the guys mentality and buy-in to find a way to close out a tough game against a very talented team."

How It Happened
  • 23' | GOAL! After Eric Lagos draws a foul in the box, Preshus buries the ensuing penalty kick, clanging it off the right post and in to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
  • 28' | Yale nearly doubles its lead, but Diego Zaffanella's attempt hits the post and bounces back into play.
  • HT | The Bulldogs' defense was incredibly stingy throughout the first 45 minutes only allowing a single shot which was struck off target.
  • 63' | Presthus almost scores his second goal of the game, but his header off a Max Rogers corner kick is knocked over the crossbar by goalkeeper Brennan Klein.
  • 88' | Boston College has a final shot inside the 18, but goaltender Chris Edwards makes the stop to keep the Eagles off the board.
