Kay Leads Home the Bulldogs at XC23 Pre National Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Yale men's cross country team achieved a top 10 finish in a stellar field at this year's Pre Nats. The Bulldogs were led home by captain Sean Kay, with the other four scorers all finishing in just over 10 seconds of each other. The Bulldogs packed up early on and consistently moved through the field to achieve a 10th place finish.

The race:
  • Sean Kay led home the Elis in an impressive 24:09 over the 8k distance.
  • Junior Leo Brewer had a trademark fast finish, making up 16 places over the last kilometer. Varun Oberai also contributed well to the team by rounding out the scoring positions.
  • Owen Karas and Kenan Pala raced well as a team and moved up throughout the race to secure valuable points for the team with Pala achieving a new 8k PR.
  • First year Daegan Cutter also raced brilliantly, running 24:28 in only his second 8k. Fellow first year Brian Gamble raced early on in the day in the orange race and placed well, coming in at 34th.
  • Full results can be found here.

Up next:
  • The Bulldogs now look to the Ivy League Heps championships on Oct. 28 in Boston at Franklin Park, a good test against strong teams.
