Bulldogs Top Harvard 2-1 In Home Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's ice hockey team won its home opener on Friday night, defeating Harvard 2-1. The Bulldogs received scores from a pair of defenders to top the Crimson. 

With the victory, Yale improves to 2-1-0 overall (2-1-0 ECAC). Harvard falls to 0-4-0 (0-4-0 ECAC) to begin the season.

Scoring Summary
  • END OF 1 | Despite a scoreless opening frame, the Bulldogs put together a high-paced offensive attack, tallying 16 shots on Harvard goaltender Alex Pellicci.
  • P2, 13:28 | GOAL! Bojarski receives a beautiful centering pass from Anna Bargman and easily taps it in near the far post to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
  • END OF 2 | Yale goaltender Pia Dukaric stopped 10 shots during the middle stanza to keep the Crimson off the board.
  • P3, 15:28 | GOAL! DeCorby finds the back of the net to give Yale a two-score lead. DeCorby took a sharp wrister from five yards in front of the blue line and the shot deflected off a Harvard defended and past Pellicci.
  • P3, 18:10 | While the Bulldogs were shorthanded on a five minute major penalty, Harvard tallied its first score of the game to cut into the lead. Gwynn Lapp was credited with the goal.
  • FINAL | Dukaric made three saves during the final minute to seal the 2-1 win for Yale.

  • Bojarski and DeCorby both tallied their first goals of the season.
  • Dukaric stopped 19 shots to earn the victory. Pellicci was also impressive, recording 32 saves for the Crimson.
  • The Bulldogs dominated the faceoff battle, winning 27-of-40.
