Bulldogs Finish Fourth at Heps

BOSTON -- The Yale men's cross country team finished fourth at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday. As they have done in each race so far this season, the Bulldogs executed an incredible display of pack running to surge to their best team Heps finish in eight years.

The Race:

Owen Karas and Sean Kay led the Bulldogs home, finishing 15th and 18th respectively in a fiercely competitive field. They ran 24:31 and 24:38, impressive times on the challenging Franklin Park course.
Leo Brewer, Daegan Cutter and Winslow Atkeson worked together to move through the field across the undulating terrain to place 23rd, 25th and 26th, securing the Bulldogs' fourth-place team finish. Yale's 107 points put the Bulldogs just 10 points behind rivals Cornell in third and one point ahead of Penn in 5th, with Princeton taking a narrow victory from Harvard. That fine margin was enough to ensure the Elis' first top-4 finish since 2015, a clear indication of the progress the team has taken over the past years.
Not far behind at all were Kenan Pala, Martin Riddell and Braden King in 29th, 37th and 42nd, each of them moving up throughout the race.
Stephen Moody, Brian Gamble, Austin Montini and Varun Oberai brought the Bulldogs home in 49th, 52nd, 73rd and 80th respectively.

The Bulldogs will travel to Van Cortlandt Park on the 10th of November for the 2023 NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
