PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was a record-breaking night for
Noah Millard at the Ivy League Men's Swimming & Diving Championship at Brown. Millard captured the 500 freestyle final, posting a league record time of 4:10.62, nearly three seconds faster than the previous mark.
That performance helped the Bulldogs maintain their hold on third place. After two days, Yale has 377.5 points. Harvard (565 points) has a narrow lead over Princeton (552.5) in the team competition.
Yale also got a strong performance from
Joseph Page, who tied for second in the 50 freestyle. He and Harvard's Marcus Holmquist each finished in 19.52. Harvard's Umit Gures won with a pool record time of 19.36.
Marcus Hodgson finished sixth for Yale.
In the 200 individual medley, Yale first year
Alexander Hazlett placed seventh with a time of 1:46.53.
In the 1-meter diving,
Aidan Thomas finished third with 343 points.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Yale's team of Millard, Hodgson,
Lucius Brown and Page finished second with a time of 1:17.10. Harvard won in 1:16.54.
The championship continues on Friday with the prelims at 11 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
