HARTFORD, Conn. - The No. 4 Yale men's squash team fell to No. 1 Harvard in the Potter Cup semifinal round of the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championships at Trinity College.
Yale's No. 6 Arav Bhagwati, No. 7 Nikhil Ismail, and No. 9 Eric Kim put on impressive showings against the top-seeded Crimson. Bhagwati swept his opponent in 37 minutes, while Kim managed to edge his in 15 minutes. Ismail took his opponent in five sets in a match that took over an hour to reach its completion.
The Bulldogs had three other matches hit the one-hour mark of play. No. 2 Maxwell Orr battled through an hour and 20 minute match, but fell in five sets. Tad Carney fell in four sets in an hour and 17 minute tussle, while Brian Leonard battled in five sets through an hour and 25 minute match.
"I am extremely pleased with our effort on the court today," said Lynn Leong, Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash. "We fought hard and pushed Harvard in every position. Our focus is now onto tomorrow and finishing the season strong."
