SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Jimmy Chatfield,
Davis Hanson and
Jake Williams all had two hits apiece in a 13-6 loss at University of San Francisco on Sunday.
The Bulldogs came out swinging with the first runs of the game – one in the first and two in the third.
Beck Milner doubled home
AJ Gaich for the first run of the game.
In the third,
Colton Shaw singled to score
Carson Swank. Chatfield, who reached base for the 47
th straight game, followed with a triple to score Shaw and give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.
USF scored six in the third.
Mark Capell came on in relief of Shaw to get the final out in the inning. Capell went on to toss three scoreless innings to keep Yale close.
In the seventh, Yale rallied to tie the game. Gaich doubled to score Hanson and Williams, and two batters later, Chatifeld singled home Gaich.
San Francisco (8-4) went on to score five in the seventh and two more in the eighth to take control of the game. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 4-5 on the season.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday with a game at the University of the Pacific.
