Pierantoni Homers in Loss at McNeese State

Shaw pitches into the eighth for the Bulldogs

Lake Charles, La. – Jeff Pierantoni launched his first homer of the season in an 8-1 loss at McNeese State on Saturday.

Pierantoni gave Yale the early lead with his solo shot in the second.  Colton Shaw, Yale's starter today, pitched into the eighth and allowed three runs through seven.

Yale had multiple runners on in both the sixth and eighth – but could not push across another run.   In the sixth down 3-1, Jimmy Chatfield reached base for the 50th straight game with a lead-off single to left and advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Pierantoni followed and was hit by a pitch.   Chatfield attempted to steal third and was thrown out for the first time this season, while Pierantoni advanced to second on the play.

Shaw then singled to left and Pierantoni moved over to third.  McNeese would escape the inning without allowing a run.

In the eighth, with the score still 3-1, Jake Williams drew a one-out walk.  Chatifeld followed with another free pass, however the Cowboys again got out of the jam.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 4-8 on the season.  The two teams will play the final game of the series tomorrow.
