WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Mick Kelley tossed five and one-third innings of scoreless relief for Yale in a 1-0 loss to Quinnipiac at Bush '48 Field on Wednesday afternoon.
A RBI ground out in the second proved to be the difference in a game where the he two teams traded zeros on the scoreboard throughout the day.Â
AJ Gaich and
Davis Hanson both had two hits each for the Bulldogs, who loaded the bases in the first. Gaich reached on an error with one out and stole second.Â
Jimmy Chatfield drew the first of three walks on the day, and the Bulldogs promptly executed a double steal. Chatfield has now reached base in 52 straight games dating back to last season.
Jeff Pierantoni walked to load the bases. Â
Colton Shaw hit a grounder to third and Gaich was thrown out at the plate, and the first would eventually end without a run. Â
The Bulldogs also put two runners on base in the second, third and fifth.  Yale also received scoreless outings from
Bryant Reese and
Daniel Cohen. Â
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 4-10 on the season. Yale opens the Ivy League schedule on Friday with a home game against Cornell on Friday afternoon. Â
