NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's swimming and diving team will be well represented at the NCAA Championships at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
Noah Millard, Connor Lee and
Jean Paul Ditto will all compete.
Millard is scheduled to swim in three events – the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyles. His first event will be on Thursday – the 500 free where he is seeded fifth. On Friday, he competes in the 200 free, and on Saturday he swims the 1650 free where he is seeded 15th.
Millard has enjoyed an outstanding sophomore season, winning Ivy League championships in each of his three NCAA events. He captured the 500 freestyle final with a league record time of 4:10.62, nearly three seconds faster than the previous mark, and shared the Phil Moriarty High Point Swimmer of the Meet Award with Princeton's Raunak Khosla. He is the school record holder in both the 200 and 500 freestyles.
At last year's NCAA Championship, Millard finished 24th in the 1650 freestyle and also competed in the 200 and 500.
Lee's first event comes on Friday, the 100 butterfly and he is seeded 28th. On Saturday, he swims the 200 butterfly. Lee, the school record holder in the 100 fly, earned second team All-Ivy honors in the 100 fly by placing second at the Ivy League Championship. At the annual HYP meet, he finished second in both the 100 and 200 butterfly.
First up for Ditto will be the 1-meter dive on Thursday followed by the 3-meter event on Friday. He qualified for the NCAA Championships by placing third off the 1-meter board at Zone A Championships earlier this month. At the Ivy League Championship in February, he earned second team All-Ivy honors by placing second off the 3-meter board.
