Women's Hockey Earns No. 4 Seed in First Round of NCAA Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 2 nationally ranked Yale women's hockey team is headed to the 2023 NCAA Division I Tournament after earning a berth during today's selection show streamed on ESPN News.
 
The Bulldogs earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will go head-to-head with the No. 5 seed in Northeastern. The game is set for Saturday, March 11 at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. This will be the second-straight year, and second time ever, that Yale has qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
 
ECAC Hockey is well-represented in the tournament. Yale, Colgate, Quinnipiac, and Clarkson, the four teams who made it to the semifinal round, will all be competing.
 
Colgate (ECAC Hockey), LIU (NEWHA), Minnesota (WCHA), Northeastern (Hockey East), and Penn State (CHA) earned the five automatic bids by winning their respective conference tournaments while Ohio State, Yale, Wisconsin, Minnesota Duluth, Quinnipiac, and Clarkson earned at-large bids.
 
2023 NCAA Tournament Pairings
No. 1 Ohio State (31-5-2) hosts Quinnipiac (29-9-0) and Penn State (27-8-2)
No. 2 Minnesota (29-5-3) hosts Minnesota Duluth (25-9-3) and Clarkson (29-10-2)
No. 3 Colgate (32-5-2) hosts Wisconsin (25-10-2) and LIU (20-13-3)
No. 4 Yale (28-3-1) hosts No. 5 Northeastern (33-2-1)
 
The first round will take place on the campuses of the four host institutions with the winners advancing to the 2023 Frozen Four on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19 at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.
