No. 15 Bulldogs Improve to 4-1 With 16-6 Win vs. CCSU

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – There was plenty of good news earlier in the day Monday for the Yale women's lacrosse team, as on the heels of a 15-10 win vs. Princeton Saturday the Bulldogs moved up to No. 15 in the ILWomen/IWLCA national poll and had sophomore attacker Jenna Collignon named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. A rare Monday night game, vs. CCSU at Reese Stadium, then gave the Bulldogs the chance to cap the day with a win – and they did so. Goals from nine different players and points from 11 different players showcased Yale's depth, leading to a 16-6 victory.

Yale (4-1, 1-0 Ivy League) scored the first five goals of the game, then six more after CCSU (0-2, 0-0 NEC) notched a pair. After the Blue Devils outscored Yale 3-2 in the third quarter, the Bulldogs finished the game off with a 3-1 scoring edge in the fourth. They have now scored 14 or more goals in four of their five games this season.

The balanced scoring effort included hat tricks from three players – and for each of them, these were the first three goals of their Yale careers: junior attacker Chloe Conaghan, sophomore midfielder Alex Hopkins, and first-year attacker Megan Kitagawa. Sophomore midfielder Taylor Lane scored twice, while sophomore attacker Caroline Burt, sophomore attacker Shannon Dahlquist, first-year midfielder Bella Saviano, sophomore midfielder Sophie Straka and sophomore midfielder Fallon Vaughn had one each. That was the first career goal for Dahlquist.

Senior attacker Olivia Penoyer led Yale in assists with three, while Conaghan had two and Collignon had one. Yale enjoyed a 19-7 draw control advantage, led by four from sophomore midfielder Sky Carrasquillo.

The Bulldogs played all three of their goalies, with senior Clare Boone starting and sophomore Cami Donadio and junior Luanna Summer coming on in relief. This was Summer's first game in goal for the Yale lacrosse team; for the last two falls she has been the starting goalie for another Yale team – field hockey.

Yale plays at UConn Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  The Huskies were among the teams receiving votes in the latest national poll.
