Collignon Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Sophomore attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.) of the Yale women's lacrosse team has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Women's Watch List. The Tewaaraton Foundation announced the additions Thursday. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top female and male college lacrosse players in the United States.

Collignon leads the Ivy League in goals (16) and points (20). She has a 12 game point-scoring streak dating back to last season, and has at least three goals in nine of those 12 games. She is shooting .500 (16 for 32) this year and has a pair of game-winning goals. She has 10 draw controls, including five in the season opener.

The addition to the Watch List adds to a growing list of accolades just this week for Collignon, who was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday and national IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Those honors came after she led No. 15 Yale with six goals and seven points in last Saturday's 15-10 win vs. No. 16 Princeton.

The last Yale women's lacrosse player to be nominated for the Tewaaraton Award or named to the Women's Watch List was Lauren Taylor '08 in 2007 and 2008. Prior to that, Miles Whitman '04 was on the Watch List for two seasons.

Collignon is the only Ivy Leaguer on the Women's Watch List. The initial Watch List of 50 players was announced Feb. 10. Thursday's 14 additions included Collignon. Another round of additions is scheduled for later this month.

The field will be narrowed to 25 nominees on April 18. Nominees can be players from the Watch List or not, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.

Five finalists will be announced in early May, and the recipient will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.

"We've seen an exciting, action-packed start to the 2023 season. These players have distinguished themselves and earned their way onto our 2023 Watch Lists," said Andy Phillips, President of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "The Tewaaraton Foundation would like to congratulate these players on their outstanding play thus far, and we wish them and their teams the best of luck for the rest of this season."

Collignon is a graduate of Hinsdale Central, where she was a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American.
