NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team split a pair of games with Sacred Heart University. Yale picked up a 3-1 loss in game one and followed that up with a 3-2 victory in game two. The split puts the Bulldogs at 16-19 on the season and the Pioneers at 17-21 overall.
 
Game 1: Sacred Heart 3, Yale 1

• T1 | In the bottom of the first, SHU's designated player singled to center field to score the game's first run.
• B1 | The Bulldogs responded immediately in their first at bat with a Carolyn Skotz hit a second pitch shot to center field to tie the game.
• T7 | Sacred Heart scored two runs on a one-out single to center field for the lead and to secure the victory.

 
Notes

• Carolyn Skotz went 2-for-4, including a home run, with one RBI and one run scored.
• Sam Goodcase went 2-for-2 at the plate.
• Emma Taylor pitched five innings with seven strikeouts.

 
Game 2: Yale 3, Sacred Heart 2

• B1 | After Carolyn Skotz earned the walk in the top spot of the order and subsequently stole second, Willa Ferrer knocked her to third with a center field single. A groundout allowed Skotz to sneak home as the Bulldogs struck first.
• B3 | Skotz found her way on base again in the third after being hit by a pitch. Libby Peoples rocked a shot to left field to score Skotz on the play from first for the two-run lead.
• T6 | Sacred Heart found its way back in the game with a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the sixth.
• B6 | Lauren Perren knocked a solo home run to right center that put Yale on top once again.
• T7 | Nicole Conway was tremendous in the seventh, retiring two batters swinging and forcing a fly-out.

• Nicole Conway picked up the win in the circle with two strikeouts.
• Willa Ferrer went 2-for-3, while Lauren Perren went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
• Grayson Vives and Libby Peoples each picked up a hit for Yale.

The Bulldogs return to 5K Corral Field for a series against Dartmouth this coming weekend. Yale will honor its one-member senior class.
