Bulldogs Complete Series Sweep Against Dartmouth on Senior Day

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – 5K Corral Field was filled with emotion as the Yale softball team celebrated Nicole Conway's senior day prior to the start of the games. The Bulldogs took a 7-5 and a 6-5 victory over the Big Green to complete the series sweep. Yale improved to 19-19 overall and 10-8 in the Ivy League, while Dartmouth is 12-20 overall and 6-9 in the conference.

Game 1: Yale 7, Dartmouth 5
  • T2 | Dartmouth found the scoresheet early on, scoring on a groundout.
  • B2 | Yale quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. Sophie Woodridge and Sam Goodcase reached base in back-to-back at bats. With no outs, Alex Perren knocked a two RBI double that green-lit the game-tying and go-ahead runs.
  • B3 | The Bulldogs kept things going in the next inning. Libby Peoples and Willa Ferrer singled in the first two at bats. After Lauren Perren's single knocked in Peoples, Ferrer scored on a sacrifice fly to put Yale up three.
  • B5 | In the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs saw their lead expand to six. Lauren Perren knocked a two-run home run followed by Alex Perren at it again with her second RBI double of the game.
  • T6 | Dartmouth snagged two runs in response to come within four of Yale's lead.
  • T7 | The Big Green found a way to pick up two more runs with a two RBI double. Hannah Turner entered in relief with one out and two runners out. Turner managed to force both batters in fly-outs, securing the victory for Yale.

Notes
  • Maddie Latta earned her sixth win of the season in the circle, which ties her single-season high.
  • Hannah Turner picked up her first collegiate save in relief for Latta.
  • Lauren Perren went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
  • Alex Perren went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
  • Libby Peoples went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.
  • Willa Ferrer went 3-for-4 with one run scored.

Game 2: Yale 6, Dartmouth 5
  • T1 | Dartmouth was the first team to strike again in game two of the day, picking up one run in the first.
  • B1 | Once again, Yale had the answer. Willa Ferrer's double scored two runs to put the Bulldogs on top.
  • B2 | With two outs, the Bulldogs managed to get into a bases loaded situation off a single and then back-to-back walks. Alex Perren, who was already having a big day, hit a single to center field that put Yale up two.
  • B4 | Yale blew the door open in the fourth. The Bulldogs found themselves, again, in a bases loaded situation with a Perren at the plate. This time, it was Lauren Perren who ripped a three RBI double to right field that cleared the bases and gave the squad a five-run lead.
  • T6 | Dartmouth added another run to its total with a RBI single to left field.
  • T7 | The Big Green attempted another late game push, much like game one. They scored two more runs on three hits that put them within one run of Yale's lead. Nicole Conway stepped up and retired the final batter to secure a Yale victory.

Notes
  • Nicole Conway recorded her sixth win of the season in the circle. Six wins is a single-season career-high for Conway.
  • Libby Peoples had another hot bat in game two, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
  • Lauren Perren and Willa Ferrer both went 1-for-2 with the former picking up three RBI, while the latter recorded two RBI.
