No. 13 Bulldogs’ Five-Game Win Streak Snapped at No. 22 Penn

PHILADELPHIA – With first place in the Ivy League standings at stake, No. 22 Penn utilized an 11-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters at Franklin Field to upend No. 13 Yale, 16-6. The Bulldogs, who led 4-3 before the Quakers went on their run, had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Both teams entered the day unbeaten in Ivy League play, meaning the winner of the game would be in the driver's seat for a first-place finish, an Ivy League regular season championship and the chance to host the Ivy League Tournament.

Yale (9-3, 3-1 Ivy League) took an early lead thanks to two goals each from sophomore attacker Jenna Collignon and sophomore midfielder Taylor Lane. Collignon's free position goal at 1:43 gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Penn (7-4, 3-0 Ivy League) outshot Yale 11-4 in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 7-0 to seize control of the game. The Quakers had an 8-2 shot advantage in the third quarter, when they tacked on four more goals to expand their lead to 14-4 heading into the fourth.

Goals by Lane and Collignon in the first seven minutes of the fourth got Yale within 14-6, but the Quakers scored the final two goals of the game to seal the win.

In addition to the hat tricks from Collignon and Lane, two Bulldogs each had a pair of assists: junior attacker Bri Carrasquillo and senior attacker Olivia Penoyer. Collignon had a game-high seven draw controls, while sophomore midfielder Sky Carrasquillo added six. Sophomore defender Marymegan Wright led the Bulldogs with three ground balls.

Sophomore Cami Donadio and junior Luanna Summer both saw time in goal, with Donadio making seven saves and Summer three. The goalies' 10 combined saves represented a season high for the Bulldogs.

Yale is now alone in second place in the Ivy League standings with a half-game lead on 2-1 Princeton and a one-game lead on three teams that are 2-2 in Ivy games: Brown, Cornell and Harvard. The Bulldogs play at Harvard next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
