PHILADELPHIA – The Yale women's lacrosse team has advanced to the Ivy League Tournament Championship for the second straight season, and will take on the No. 1 seed and host Penn Quakers Sunday at Penn Park (12:00 p.m.,

Live Stats, Tickets). The No. 2 seeded Bulldogs, who fell to Princeton in last year's championship after beating Cornell in the semis, are coming off an
11-10 win vs. Princeton in Friday's semifinals. The winner of Sunday's game earns the Ivy League's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, which starts next Friday.
Among Yale's Best
Yale's 11 wins this season are tied for the most in a season by the team since 2008 (the 2022 squad finished with 11). The school record for wins in a season is 14 (1978, 1979, 1995, 1999, 2003). The Bulldogs finished in a tie for second in the Ivy League this year, making this the first time since 1984-85 that the team has finished second in the league in back-to-back seasons.

Last season every team that was ranked No. 22 or better in the RPI at the time of NCAA Tournament selections made the tournament. NCAA Tournament selections for 2023 will be announced Sunday, May 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The field of 29 teams includes 15 automatic berths (including the Ivy League) and 14 at-large selections. The top eight teams are seeded, and the top three teams earn byes. First- and second-round games are held at eight different campus sites May 12 and 14.
Scouting Penn
Penn (12-4, 7-0 Ivy League), which has won three Ivy League Tournament titles, is coming off a 16-8 win vs. No. 4 seed Harvard in the semifinals. The Quakers beat the Bulldogs 16-6 in the regular season. Yale
beat the Quakers 11-10 in New Haven in 2022, the Bulldogs' first win in the series since 2004.
