Women's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team has announced its 2023 slate of games, highlighted by seven games at Reese Stadium.
 
Yale's 16-game regular season (seven Ivy League games, nine non-conference games) starts on the road at Sacred Heart University on Friday, Aug. 25 in non-conference action. The Bulldogs begin their Ivy League play against Dartmouth on Saturday, Sept. 23 at home. Yale will also host Manhattan College in a scrimmage on Aug. 19.
 
This year features the inaugural Ivy League Women's Soccer Tournament that will take place Nov. 3-5. The top four teams in the league table at the conclusion of the regular season.
 
Rising senior Chloe Laureano was elected Yale's captain for the upcoming season, while Sarah Martinez enters her third full season of competition, and fourth at the helm. In 2022, Martinez catapulted the Bulldogs from a tough 2021 to a comeback season in 2022. The Bulldogs went from last place in the Ivy League to a third-place finish in the Ivy standings this past season. Martinez's squad also broke the program record for consecutive shutouts (5) and tied a program record for shutouts in a season (9). The 2022 season saw the team post an undefeated record at home (7-0-1) where they allowed just one goal against at Reese Stadium. It was also the first time since 2011 that the Bulldogs recorded seven wins at home in a season. 

Here is a breakdown of the schedule for 2023:
  • Seven of Yale's 16 games are in Ivy League play (four home, three away):
    • Sept 23 vs. Dartmouth
    • Sept. 30 at Penn
    • Oct. 4 vs. Brown
    • Oct. 7 at Princeton
    • Oct. 14 vs. Cornell
    • Oct. 21 at Columbia
    • Oct. 28 vs. Harvard
  • The schedule includes nine non-conference games and six different conferences are represented:
    • Aug. 25 at Sacred Heart University (Northeast)
    • Aug. 27 vs. University of Massachusetts Amherst (Atlantic 10)
    • Aug. 31 at University of Washington (Pac-12)
    • Sept. 3 at Seattle University (Western Athletic)
    • Sept. 7 vs. Seton Hall (Big East)
    • Sept. 10 vs University of Connecticut (UConn) (Big East)
    • Sept 14 at St. John's (Big East)
    • Sept. 25 at Fordham (Patriot League)
    • Oct. 17 at Boston University (Patriot League)
  • Yale plays games in seven different states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington). 
  • The Ivy League Tournament takes place at the site of the No. 1 seed and includes the top four teams in the regular season standings. The semifinals take place Friday, Nov. 3 and the tournament championship game is Sunday, Nov. 5.
     
  • The NCAA Tournament is set to begin on Nov. 10 with the College Cup held from Dec. 1, 2023 – Dec. 4, 2023, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
