NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team dropped its season opener 2-0 to West Virginia University on Friday night at Reese Stadium. With the win, the Mountaineers improve to 3-0-0 this season.
"We are happy about our overall performance against an NCAA-caliber team and I thought we were the better team for large portions of the game and consistently in more dangerous areas of the field," said
Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "The game changed on a highly questionable penalty kick call, but we didn't let down and our guys responded very well after that. They did well to execute the plan and we are unfortunate not to get more from this game. This was a great test early on and a great foundation to build on."
