Beales Scores Again, but Fairfield Hangs On for 2-1 Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale field hockey team fell to Fairfield 2-1 Friday night at Johnson Field in the home opener. The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 but crept closer early in the third on a penalty corner goal by sophomore forward Poppy Beales, who tipped in a shot by first-year back/midfielder Hettie Whittington. But Fairfield (4-1, 0-0 NEC) kept Yale (1-4, 0-0 Ivy League) from getting the equalizer.
