Bulldogs Finish Strong in 3-1 Win at Loyola Chicago

Yale hits .436 in key third set victory

CHICAGO Betsy Goodenow exploded for a season-high 17 kills and the Bulldogs earned their second road victory of the season in a 3-1 win at Loyola Chicago on Saturday evening.  The scores of the match were 25-22, 27-29, 25-21 and 25-17.

Match summary:
  • The Bulldogs have won five of six matches heading into Ivy League play after tonight's win against the Ramblers, who earned a NCAA Tournament berth last season.
  • Yale improved to 2-1 in road matches this season – The Bulldogs also won at Army on Sept. 3.
  • Betsy Goodenow hit .421 and finished with a double-double with 10 digs to go along with her match-high 17 kills.
  • Carly Diehl narrowly missed a triple-double.  Diehl had 49 assists, 10 digs and nine kills with a .444 hitting percentage.
  • With the match tied 1-1, the Bulldogs hit .436 in the third set.  Isabella Mendoza had a team-high seven kills in the frame, while Goodenow added four.
  • Mila Yarich had match-highs in digs (21) and service aces (4) tonight.  The Bulldogs posted a season-best eight service aces in the match.
  • Laurece Abraham had a season-best and team-high six blocks.
  • The Bulldogs set a season-high 60 assists on 63 kills.
