Former Women's Ice Hockey Captain Claire Dalton Drafted to PWHL

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its inaugural draft, Yale women's ice hockey alumna Claire Dalton '23 was drafted into the newly formed Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).

Dalton was selected by PWHL Montreal in Round 12 with the 67th overall pick. The Toronto native joins a handful of former Bulldogs to have played professionally:
  • Saroya Tinker, Toronto Six*
  • Mallory Soulotis, Connecticut Whale*
  • Taylor Marchin, Metropolitan Riveters*
  • Emma Vlasic, Connecticut Whale*
  • Tera Hofman, Buffalo Beauts*

*Organizations formerly part of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) and the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).

Daltons joins Montreal after a big-time senior campaign for Yale. She wore the captain's patch for the Bulldogs during the 2022-23 season and etched her name into the record books at Yale, shattering the career assists (89) record previously set by Maria Dennis (68) in 1984-88. This past season, she led the team in game-winning goals, including a memorable one at Cornell that helped secure the Bulldogs' first-ever Ivy League title in overtime.
