Yale Wins Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- For only the second time in history, the Yale Bulldogs brought home the team title at the annual Paul Short Run on Saturday. The Elis flexed both their strength and depth as they placed five scorers within just 21 seconds of each other, enough to secure the win in convincing fashion.

The Race:

Just like at the Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet three weeks ago, it was Owen Karas and Sean Kay who led the Bulldogs home at Lehigh. They worked together for the bulk of the race and finished eighth and 12th, running times of 24:14 and 24:17 respectively.
Close behind them was a strong trio of Varun Oberai, Leo Brewer and Kenan Pala, who were separated by just four seconds as they ran 24:31, 24:33 and 24:35. Their finishing positions of 23rd, 26th and 32nd handed Yale the team victory with 101 points, 22 points ahead of the nearest opponent.
Stephen Moody, Winslow Atkeson and Martin Riddell battled through the muddy conditions as they all came home between 25:00 and 25:21. Tanish Chettiar and Elon Abergel ran 25:48 and 26:05 as they made their debuts at this meet.
Earlier on, Austin Montini, Henry Saul and Jack Sendek had donned "the Y" in the open race, with Montini setting a new 8K PR of 25:44.
