PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Yale men's fencing team competed at the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday. The Bulldogs compiled a 4-2 record while facing four top-10 teams according to SPI rankings. Yale improves to 23-3 so far this season.
Yale opened its day with a 14-13 win over No. 1 Notre Dame. The Bulldogs won 6-3 in the saber to seal the victory, snapping a three-match losing streak to the Fighting Irish.
The Elis dropped a match to No. 5 Ohio State, but rebounded in the third round with a close 14-13 victory over Penn State. It was the second weekend in a row that the Bulldogs were able to top the No. 6 ranked Nittany Lions.
Yale defeated Duke and NJIT, before falling to Princeton in the final round of the day.
