Pair of Road Games for Bulldogs This Week

Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. at Hofstra
Friday, 3:00 p.m. at Dartmouth
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale field hockey team hits the road for a pair of games this week, playing at Hofstra Tuesday (3:00 p.m., FloSports, Live Stats) and at Dartmouth Friday (3:00 p.m. ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats).

LAST WEEKEND
Yale topped Cornell 5-0 this past Friday, as six different players had at least one point. First year forward/midfielder Chiara Picciafuoco (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and junior forward/midfielder Lauren Venter (Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa) each had a pair of goals and sophomore back/midfielder Hettie Whittington (Guildford, Surrey, England) scored as well. Senior goalkeeper Alexa Pitts (Lancaster, Pa.) made five saves for her second career shutout.

OFFENSE TRENDING UP
With at least five games left, Yale's 30 goals this season are the most in a season for the Bulldogs since 2021 (43 goals).

CLASS GOALS
Yale's 30 goals this season have been well-distributed: each class has scored at least five. Here is the breakdown:
  • Seniors: 5 goals (6 players)
  • Juniors: 11 goals (4 players)
  • Sophomores: 6 goals (4 players)
  • First Years: 8 goals (6 players)

ROAD WARRIORS
Yale is 3-3 in road games this season, with three road games left in the regular season. The Bulldogs are seeking their first winning record on the road for a season since 2011 (that team went 4-3 on the road). If they reach the six-win mark in road games, that would be the first time they have accomplished that since 1998.

Yale has won five of the last six games in the series with Hofstra, including a 3-2 win the last time these two teams met (Sept. 4, 2022). That was the Bulldogs' first win with Melissa Gonzalez as the team's Caroline Ruth Thompson '02 Head Coach of Field Hockey. Yale assistant coach Kerry Kiddoo is a Hofstra alum and was an assistant coach at Hofstra in 2021. During her playing career she was a two-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad honoree, a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection and a four-time Hofstra Athletics Honor Roll selection.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
Dartmouth (3-8, 0-4 Ivy League) just snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-0 win vs. Colgate. The Big Green has been outscored 17-3 in Ivy games this year, and has not won an Ivy game since a 3-1 victory over Columbia in the 2023 season finale. Yale has won seven in a row in the series, including a 2-1 overtime win last year.
