CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Yale University men's tennis team registered a 13-1 mark during qualifying round action at the ITA New England Regional. As a result, nine Bulldogs will participate in the main draw starting tomorrow.
Singles Results
- Renaud Lefevre claimed a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 10-4 win over Colgate's Jerome Falcon to start the day. He followed with a 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 10-7 victory over Dartmouth's Denny Bao.
- Jason Shuler captured a 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Gurustat Singh Makkar of Niagara. Next, he defeated Michael Malkin of Buffalo, 6-3, 6-3.
- Luke Neal started the day with a win over Gustavs Dambins of Boston University, 6-3, 6-3. In his next outing, he lost a three-setter to Zihao Yuan of Dartmouth, 7-5, 0-6, 3-10.
- Edward Liao collected a pair of straight set wins - 7-5, 6-4 over Vid Maric of Niagara, and then, 6-0, 6-2 against Daniel Baquero of Bryant.
- Dylan Tsoi defeated Aidan Pack of Boston College, 6-1, 6-1. His second match was a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Tomas Gomez of Marist.
- Krish Gupta opened with a three-set win over Faiz Nasyam of Buffalo, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6. He took care of Miguel Angel Machado of Bryant in straight sets in the nightcap, 6-0, 6-2.Â
- Walker Oberg rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win against Jose Maria Garcia Uribe of Niagara, followed by a 6-2, 6-4 triumph against Kostas Kollias of Fairfield.
The Bulldogs return to action for day two of the ITA New England Regional on Friday morning.
